Phobias and Fears

You Are in Control

What is a Phobia?

A phobia is an intense, irrational and uncontrollable fear of an object or situation. If you have a phobia, you likely know that your fear is out of proportion to the reality of the threat but the logical argument doesn’t help. The fear experienced can be so irrational and intense that it can have a significant impact on your life and how you live it. Phobia suffers will go to great lengths to avoid the object or situation of their fear. Phobias are classified as anxiety disorders and share many symptoms with other anxiety disorders.

According to the DSM-5, specific phobias typically fall within five general categories:

fears related to animals (spiders, dogs, insects)
fears related to the natural environment (heights, thunder, darkness)
fears related to blood, injury, or medical issues (injections, broken bones, falls)
fears related to specific situations (flying, riding an elevator, driving)
other (fear of choking, loud noises, drowning)
These categories encompass an infinite number of specific objects and situations.

How will hypnotherapy combined with CBT help you to overcome your fear or phobia

Many phobias exist in our subconscious and are learned responses. Hypnotherapy can help you unlearn the fear response, build up your exposure to the phobia and in time ease the associated anxiety. The combination of Clinical hypnotherapy and CBT is an evidenced-based approach to resolving problems at a deeper level.
